HARRIS ACADEMY ORPINGTON SIXTH FORM CONTINUES UPWARD TREND AT A LEVEL
There were celebrations at Harris Academy Orpington this morning as Year 13 students collected their A Level results. The Academy’s Sixth Form, which was judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted inspectors last year, has produced another set of excellent results which are an improvement on those achieved last year.
The Academy has seen successes across the board particularly in Fine Art where 60% of students achieved the top A* and A grades including Amina Chadova, who is celebrating an A in Fine Art alongside a Distinction-Merit in Health and Social Care. Amina arrived in the UK from Ukraine at the start of Year 12 with little English and, with the Academy’s support, has made tremendous progress.
Amina said:
I'm so happy with my results and can't wait to continue to study Art at University although it will be sad to end my journey at Harris Academy Orpington.
Another student celebrating today is Joao Henrique Tomaz De Jesus whose first language is Portuguese. He has achieved an A in History, an A in Sociology and a B in Psychology. He is now planning to go to King's College London to study Psychology
Congratulating students, Richard Carey, Head of Harris Academy Orpington, said:
Today’s results demonstrate that students at Harris Academy Orpington are capable of achieving the highest grades. They have all embraced our core values of ambition, tenacity and enterprise and I am excited to see what more they can achieve as they embark on their next chapter. We are highly ambitious for our students and are determined to keep raising standards across the school. Thank you to our wonderful staff who have supported our students every step of the way with expert tuition and guidance and have given them the self-confidence and belief to aim high.
